Baki Khata is a multi-tenant ledger and invoicing app for small shops in Bangladesh — grocers, wholesalers, pharmacies, tailors. Shopkeepers record credit given and payments received, send due reminders over WhatsApp, and let customers pay their dues online.
01Challenge
Small shops in Bangladesh run on credit — baki — tracked in paper notebooks. Balances drift, reminders are awkward to send, and connectivity in many markets comes and goes.
02Approach
Phone-number sign-in and a given/received ledger with a stored running balance and full audit log. Entries made offline queue on the device and sync with duplicate-safe retries. Customers get a signed link to view their own ledger and pay through bKash or SSLCommerz. Premium plans add an AI khata-photo digitiser with human review and Bangla voice entry.
03Result
A web app, installable PWA and Flutter Android app on one API, with 141 tests covering tenant isolation, ledger arithmetic, payment webhooks and offline-sync deduplication.
